People

Professor Haibo Ge, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Haibo Ge received his Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry from The University of Kansas in 2006, and then moved to The Scripps Research Institute for postdoctoral study. In 2009, he began his independent academic career at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, and relocated to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas Tech University in 2020. Research in his group is mainly focused on the development of novel methods for carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formation through transition metal catalyzed C-H functionalization.
Chong Liu, Ph.D.
Post-Doctoral Fellow
Chong Liu got his B.S. and M.S. degrees at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Next, he received his PhD degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2021 (supervisor: Wanbin Zhang). Then, he joined in Professor Haibo Ge’s group in Texas Tech University for his postdoctoral research. His research interests focus on transition-metal catalyzed C−H functionalization and asymmetric synthesis methodology.

Sajib Joardar
Graduate Student
Md Sajib Joardar completed his undergrad and master’s in chemistry from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. Then, he started his professional career as a synthetic chemist at Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited, one of the leading FDA-approved pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh, where he worked for almost 3 years. After that, he joined as a chemist at Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, which is the number one paint manufacturing multinational company in Bangladesh. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in chemistry at Texas Tech University under the supervision of Dr. Haibo Ge. His current research focuses on palladium-catalyzed diastereoselective arylamination-based cascade reactions.
